Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all our friends, colleagues and business associates that we have worked with in recent times. I appreciate all the fantastic ideas, dreams, adventures and friendships that we fostered in 2015. Thanks for everyone trusting and respecting our media group to bring your stories to life sincerely and respectfully.

I value everyone’s contributions and look forward to serving you again in 2016 and continuing on the journey of dreaming big and imagining more of the magical experience of story-telling.

Show me the sign

Show Me The Sign

Have you ever asked yourself this question, “Show me the sign?”

What are you really good at? What activity would you enjoy gravitating towards without thinking twice?  What activity can you do for unlimited hours? This basically translates to what activity will you be willing to grind out and still maintain focus over time to make it come alive.

For example, a friend of mine who works in the pharmaceutical industry works 9-5 everyday. Yesterday she sold 6 dozen Christmas pies so far.  I said congratulations and saw the excitement on her face.  Then I next asked her if she would consider expanding this opportunity into a regular small business.  She responded most definitely and then I said how would you manage your time? She said “I’ve been staying up until 1 am and I don’t mind because this is what I enjoy doing”.

Wow! She found an activity that she totally enjoyed without thinking twice.

This activity in my opinion is one of her gifts and talents from God.  So now is it possible to use this talent to help other people and create a business from it?  If you can identify a gift or talent and then use it to serve people, then for sure you can profit off of it.

Similarly for me, I identified one of my talents and gifts of storytelling and motion for the purpose of helping small businesses. I noticed that there are a lot of small businesses that have great ideas and we can use my talents to serve them to market their products.   The key is to stay in your lane and identify that gift and then proceed from there.  In my case it’s not music videos, commercials, movie making, but organically capturing people’s emotions through story telling which empowers me.

A lot of times we overlook what comes second nature to us (i.e. our gifts) and instead proceed to look for the sign from above. Perhaps we may sometimes believe that what we are truly good at is not good enough. Or perhaps it’s not truly good enough to provide a financial income, so we trade in our talents for other forms of employment which may be a job working for another company. Or as I like to look at it, working to build someone else’s dreams or for the very least trading our talents for an almost guaranteed pay-check.   But that’s how the world turns with everyone’s gifts providing a service to the general public.

Here’s another way of looking at it.  I am not a coffee connoisseur but I do enjoy going to Starbucks every now and then. So I wouldn’t say that I am a regular at Starbucks but it’s an acceptable place to socialize and have a cuppa.  So although I don’t invest heavily into Starbucks, I do in some way, shape or form help to pay farmers in Colombia.  So our gifts are open and available to a lot of people in the world.  This is where thinking BIG comes into play and knowing that our talents and gifts can really be profitable if we decide to pursue them.

So the next time you say, “Show me the sign”, take a moment and dream big and think big of the opportunities your talents can provide.

the-journey

Chart The Journey

I have always believed in dreams and that the future awakening of ourselves is begging us to unlock that potential.  As Oprah Winfrey says, “To say Yes to life, means you have to say Yes to life experiences.”

I know we all have had our own fair share of life experiences from adventure to betrayal. From living in the moment to living in fear and although we are all students of the University of Hard Knocks, I still think that everyday is a gift from God and enjoying the gift of now is all that truly matters.  One day I woke up and I said to myself, “Wow!! Isn’t it amazing to be able to choose what I am going to pursue today. Isn’t it amazing to be able to choose between oats and cereal for breakfast. Isn’t it amazing to be able to research my next video project online with the availability of a personal computer or tablet; to decide what country to set foot upon.

Yes, the gift of now helps me to be self-aware of my ability to embrace what choices I am making now, the most precious and pivotal moment on the journey of life.  At this moment, I am writing my weekly blog. I could be doing something else, but I have been given the option to choose what I’d really like to do now.  What I choose to do now is the gateway to my future.  A good productive future or an uneventful one is always in my hands. Sure the video-shoot may not always go the way we predicted and yes there are a lot of variables outside of my control. But with the awareness of having that choice, can alter the trajectory of a story to make the difference between a great story or a poor one.

I have come to embrace the divine flow of the universe and allowing myself to live in the present moment, to surrender and buckle-up for the journey of now, so that I can harness all my energy to make the next best decision to keep moving forward.  As Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks says in his book, “Onward!”. No matter what the bus ride looks like on the bumpy route of life, we must proceed onward and seek our dreams and goals for our lives.

As 2015 comes to a fabulous end, I chart the journey of 2016, focusing on creativity and the full expression of  the double LL – Living Life!
